Preschool Program
The preschool program is designed for children ages 3-5 five years of age and focuses on the child’s social, emotional, physical and intellectual and spiritual aspects of development. Every child is unique, and is accepted as such in order to foster his or her individuality.
Our four and five year old children will experience our math and writing program on a daily basis. The math program is called “Math Their Way”. This is a self-guided program manipulating several different types of objects. The children move at their own pace and are rewarded for their efforts daily. The writing program is called “Handwriting Wthout Tears”. The program is hands on along with daily pencil and paper activities designed to stimulate their curiosity about upper and lower case letters.
Simon Says has a goal to enrich the Christian lives of both the children and their parents, while also creating more "Family Time” due to our wide variety of unique services. Our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd focuses on building a relationship with God through working in a quiet atrium using tangible centers explaining Jesus' journey and exploring scripture. The highly qualified staff is here to facilitate parent education, which is the key to success in your child’s life.
Infant Program
The Infant Program is offered only on a full-time basis, enrolling ages 6 weeks - 1 year. This program has 2 classrooms with 2 full-time staff for 8 children. Our goal for our infants is to ensure a safe, loving and sanitary environment. The infants are stimulated by exploring, belly, back and upright positions along with multiple sensory experiences. An example being sound, texture and movement exercises.
Toddler Program
The Toddler Program is offered on a full-time or part-time basis (M, W, F or T,TH), enrolling ages 1- 2 years of age. This program has 3 full time staff for 12 children. This enables us to perform a curriculum involving sensory, language, listening skills, art, music, gross motor and a lot of Tender Loving Care.
Before and After School Program
This program is designed for children who attend St. Simon's grade school and need before and after school supervision. The age range for this program is 5-12 years of age. These children will arrive in the morning where they may have breakfast and partake in age - ranged activities. The afternoon program will consist of assorted activities. They will have the freedom to choose from self - guided activities or arranged activities. A non-structured activity sheet will be posted by the teacher weekly. Fees for this program are on the fee sheet.
During St. Simon's school holidays and vacations, the center will provide a service to school children under the age of 12 depending on availability. If you wish to take advantage of this service you must make arrangements by using the forms located in the forms section (This service due to Covid 19 has been put on hold until further notice). A summer program will also be offered and will be handled separately.
Additional Programs
Please visit the Forms tab on our home page for information about our Summer Camp Gonzaga Program ages 6-12 years.
We have several programs that we offer throughout the year: Gymnastics and Dance (are of extra cost to each child), and our babysitting service is available once a month. We are always seeking out new ways to make your family life easier. Your suggestions and feedback are welcomed.
Personal Items NeededBecause accidents do happen, we ask that you provide a complete change of clothing including socks, which will be kept in your child's cubby. These items need to be marked with his/her first and last name. Be sure to check these items seasonally for fit and comfort. Our Preschool program requests that your child is two-and-a-half years of age and potty trained. If your child is having difficulties in potty training and needs to wear a pull-up occasionally, you will need to provide the pull-up as needed.
ClothingWhen clothing your child please take these items into consideration:
* We will engage in messy art activities, so provide washable clothing. We cannot be responsible for damaged clothing.
* Weather permitting, we will be going outside every day so the child will need sturdy clothing and shoes for safe playing and climbing.
* For girls; if they are going to wear a dress, please provide pants, when needed.
* Depending on the weather you will need to provide appropriate clothing. In cooler weather, children will need jackets or sweaters.
* Windy, cold or wet days will require head cover, mittens, and boots.
* Hot days will require swim suits, towel, water shoes, and sunscreen. Absolutely NO SANDALS are to be worn.
Special Items
Please supply one child - sized breathable blanket with child's name on it for your child's use at nap time. We are equipped to launder bedding on a weekly basis (Tide is the soap we use). We brush teeth after lunch so please bring a toothbrush and a tube of mint toothpaste (this activity has been put on hold due to Covid 19).
We discourage children from bringing toys or items from home. Please try to keep these items in the car. It is difficult to keep track of these items and we do not want them to get lost or broken. If a toy does show up at school we will try to send it home with the parent. We will appreciate your cooperation. Your teacher will inform you of a special Show-and-Share day in which children are encouraged to bring a toy to share with the class.
